Getting started
How do I sign in? Is there a password?
No password needed. Enter your email and we’ll send you a secure sign-in link: tap it and you’re in (the link works once and expires after 20 minutes). You can also use Sign in with Apple or Sign in with Google if you prefer.
How do I create or join a club?
From the Clubs tab, tap Create a club to start your own, or Join and enter the 6-character invite code a friend shared with you. You can also tap an invite link (like chapterpals.com/ABC123) and you’ll be guided in.
What languages does ChapterPals support?
ChapterPals is English-only for now. The app and our book catalog are in English, so search, recommendations, and the interface work best in English today. You’re always welcome to read and discuss books in any language with your club, and we’d love to add more languages as we grow.
Clubs & members
What’s the difference between in-person, virtual, and hybrid clubs?
Clubs can meet however you like: at someone’s home, over video, or a mix. When you schedule a meeting you can add a place, a video link, or both, and members RSVP for how they’ll attend.
How do I invite people?
Open your club’s ⋯ menu → Share invite link to send the link or code, or Share reading card to send a nice image with a scan-to-join QR code. You can also email an invite directly from the same menu.
Who can manage a club?
The organizer can pick books, schedule and lock meetings, manage members, and choose how the club selects its next read. Any member can join discussions, vote, RSVP, and track progress.
Your reading
Can I track my own reading, not just my club’s?
Yes, ChapterPals is your whole reading home. Keep shelves for Reading, Want to read, Finished, and Set aside (for the ones you didn’t finish), give half-star ratings and write reviews, and set a yearly reading challenge. Your Profile keeps your reading stats and history: books and pages over time, your ratings, and how the year’s going.
Can I import my Goodreads / StoryGraph / Libby library?
Yes. In Settings → Your library → Import, upload a CSV export from Goodreads, StoryGraph, or Libby and we’ll bring your shelves, ratings, and dates over in one tap. You can also connect your Goodreads account: sign in once and we’ll keep your shelves in sync from then on, quietly pulling in new books and ratings about once a day. Disconnect any time from the same screen.
Reading with your club
How does reading progress work?
Update where you are by page or percent on the club’s current book. Everyone sees the group’s average progress and their own, so you can keep pace together. Finishing a book celebrates with a little confetti. 🎉
What is “spoiler-safe” discussion?
Messages posted past where you are in the book stay hidden until you catch up, so no one spoils the ending. You can turn spoiler-safe mode off any time in Settings → Reading.
Can I sit a book out?
Yes, if a pick isn’t for you, mark “Can’t read this one.” Your organizer can see who’s sitting out, and you’ll rejoin automatically on the next book.
Meetings
How do meetings and RSVPs work?
An organizer proposes a time (or a poll of times for the club to vote on), then locks it in. Members RSVP going / maybe / can’t, and choose in-person or video. You can export any meeting to your calendar (Apple, Google, Outlook).
How does voting on the next book work?
Members suggest titles and vote, so the group decides together. Organizers can also set the club to rotate who picks, or choose at random, whatever fits your club.
Discovery & recommendations
Where do recommendations come from?
From your own taste: the authors and genres you read and rate, plus books your fellow club members enjoy. Each pick tells you why (“Because you loved …”), so it’s never a random list. Mark a suggestion Want, Read, or Not interested to tune what you see: dismissed books won’t come back.

Browse our reading guides and lists, including “what to read after” pages for popular series, built from what readers actually pick up next. Every book links straight into the app so you can shelve it in a tap.

What are book tier lists?
Rank everything you’ve read from S-tier down to DNF, then share the board and watch your pals argue. Make one from your Profile or straight from any book.
Notifications & account
What notifications will I get, and can I turn them off?
You can opt into meeting reminders, new-book votes, club messages, and “someone finished the book”: each is a toggle in Settings → Notifications.
How do I edit my profile, export my data, or delete my account?
Edit your name, photo, and details from your Profile. To download a copy of your data, go to Settings → Your library → Export. To delete your account and all associated data, open Settings → Delete account: it’s self-serve and takes effect immediately. If you’d rather we handle it, email us (below).
