The Secret of Stone House Farm
On the first bright morning of summer vacation, the lazy weeks ahead seemed wonderful in anticipation to ten-year-old Marcy - until she learned that her best friend was moving away almost at once. On top of that, Marcy discovered that the old stone house on a deserted farm nearby was haunted! The next afternoon her fears about the "haunted" house were dispelled when Marcy found old Bert Cole, a champion trick drummer, drumming away on the porch there. He and plump Juanita, his wife, had just bought the farm, having retired from the circus with their pets and a collection of exotic birds. To Marcy, they were the most intriguing people she had ever met. Then began for Marcy, her small brother Wayne, and Lee, the older boy next door, a marvelous summer of discovery and friendship climaxed by the disclosure of the "secret" kept by the Coles in their barn.
