This is how it all began. The dragon Danzi is not yet 1000 years old. He roams the countryside alone, horrified at how bloodthirsty and violent humans have become. When he meets the travelling trickster Bingwen, he is more convinced than ever that he does not need a Dragonkeeper. But Bingwen has other ideas.
