Slow Homecoming
Slow Homecoming follows Valentin Sorger, a geologist who leaves America for Alaska to focus on work, then feels compelled to return to Europe. The narrative shifts to a pilgrimage to Mont Sainte-Victoire, where Sorger is portrayed as a stand‑in for the author’s own quest to rebuild identity and art. The final section, “Child Story,” presents a new father’s observations and affection for his daughter.
