You Don't Know JS Yet
Kyle Simpson's rewrite of the You Don't Know JS series, restarted in 2020 and again organised as short volumes taking JavaScript's awkward parts seriously rather than advising avoidance. This is the first book, covering the language's history, its three pillars of scope and closure, prototypes, and types and coercion, and setting up the volumes that follow. Written to be worked through rather than referenced, and published openly on GitHub alongside print.
