Miaka Yuki, a middle‑school senior preparing for her high‑school entrance exam, discovers an ancient Chinese novel that transports her and her friend Yui into a parallel realm. In that world Miaka serves as the priestess of Suzaku while Yui becomes her rival, and both become enamored with Tamahomé, the guardian of the Suzaku star. Miaka must decide whether to return home or remain with Tamahomé, confronting enemies who threaten her life.
