Merriam-Webster provides the definition of the word survival as "the continuation of life or existence."So, how does one survive? Numerous TV shows and online videos make an honest effort to demonstrate what it takes to survive (and what not to do). Great lengths are taken, preparation is made, and risks are accepted to portray as accurate as possible any variety of survival circumstances, whether it be in the forest, on a life raft, or in the city. I respect their enthusiasm and selflessness to want to experience the situation and share it with others to witness. But they go into the environment with some risks mitigated, somewhat equipped, and most importantly, knowing they will be in that situation. It is this knowledge that separates the "actors" from actual victims; the mental preparation.The goal of this book is not necessarily to teach others what to do and what not to do but instead how to think with the mental and physical tools the survivor has on hand. The reader should understand that almost anything can be a tool for survival, and there are usually many way to achieve the same goal.
