This adventure begins in the dark - the dark auditorium at school, where Danny Dunn and his pal, Joe Pearson anxiously watch the final rehearsals of Joe's play about skulduggery on the moon. Danny Dunn fans know, though, that their hero is never in the dark for very long, and this time it just takes one word - "robots" - to set off an electronic chain reaction that leads Danny, his friends Joe Pearson, Irene Miller, Professor Bullfinch and the entire faculty of Midston University into the delightfully wacky world of automation.
