Black Butler, Vol. 1
The first volume of the manga Black Butler (Kuroshitsuji) by Yana Toboso. Set in an alternate Victorian England, it introduces Ciel Phantomhive, a young earl who heads a noble family and a business, and Sebastian Michaelis, his impossibly capable butler who is secretly a demon bound to Ciel by a contract. This opening volume is fairly episodic, establishing the manor, its staff, and the darkly comic tone before the larger mystery deepens. For a club it is a quick, stylish read and a good entry point for anyone curious about gothic manga.
