The Finkler question
Julian Treslove, professionally unspectacular BBC worker, and Sam Finkler, popular Jewish philosopher and TV personality, are old school friends. They've never quite lost touch with each other -- or with their former teacher, Libor Sevick. Treslove dines with recent widows Libor and Finkler at Libor's London apartment for a sweetly painful evening of reminiscence. As Treslove walks home he is attacked and robbed, and everything changes.
