Software Maintenance Guidebook
The book is a serious book written with a somewhat humorous touch. It deplores the fact that in the software development cycle all the attention is focused on the beginning, the front end of the process and very little at all on the back end. The book was written in 1981 and to and the situation still seems the similar. Over the years enormous amounts if money have to spent to develop high and higher programming language, specification tools, design tools and management tools. Very little has been spent on providing adequate tools for the people required to maintain the system. Today we would call it operations and system management, as well as user support and training. An entertaining, but serious book.
