Much as she loved her beautiful actress mother Clea, Joanne could see that Ben Norris had a point when he considered her 'no better than she ought to be' - but why did he have to carry his hostility over to Joanne, who wasn't at all that kind of girl? In any case, she thought bitterly, his opinion of Clea hadn't, apparently, prevented him from joining the ranks of her admirers.
