Vanity of Duluoz
The book follows Jack Duluoz, Kerouac's alter‑ego, through his high‑school years as a sports star in Massachusetts and his college life at Columbia on a football scholarship. During World War II he enlists in the U.S. Navy, travels abroad, and later returns to New York as the Beat movement begins, where he encounters drugs, sex, and a new writing career.
