When the body is identified, it is found to be that of a man who once worked for Tweed. Three thousand miles away on the east coast of America, another headless body is found. Sensing instinctively that there is a connection, Tweed, Paula Grey and Bob Newman go after the killer, following his tortuous trail from London to America and deep into Switzerland. Haunted by nightmares about the dreadful executions, Paula takes the lead in their desperate mission to end the bloodshed and in doing so puts herself in extreme danger.
