Giving thanks

by Jake Swamp

The words in this book are based on the Thanksgiving, an ancient message of peace and gratitude to Mother Earth and all her inhabitants. These words of thanks come to us through the native people known as Haudenosaunee, or also as the Iroquois or Six Nations: Mohawk, Oneida, Cayuga, Onondaga, Seneca and Tuscarora. The peoples of these Six Nations are from upstate New York and Canada. These words of appreciation are still spoken today at the ceremonial or governmental meetings of the Six Nations.
