Dear Theo

by Vincent van Gogh

A selection from Vincent van Gogh's letters to his brother Theo, who supported him financially for most of his working life and to whom he explained almost everything he was doing. The letters run from the early religious years through Paris, Arles and the asylum at Saint-Remy, and they are the reason van Gogh's intentions are documented as thoroughly as his paintings. He writes about colour theory, money, illness and other painters, often in the same paragraph.
