The Helper

by Catherine Marshall undifferentiated

“The helper” is the title that God uses to describe women when he created her to be “a helper” to her husband in a way that is comparable and complementary to him (Gen. 2:18). This high calling is demonstrated by the Holy Spirit who is an equal person in the Trinity who is also described as “The Helper” (John 15:26). The Holy Spirit as “The Helper” has the role of empowering believers in Christian living (John 16:5-16). Likewise, the wife has the role of empowering her husband and helping him as he leads the family in the overall direction of the family (Eph. 5:22-33). The husband and wife operate as a team as they care for the family and disciple the children to be strong believers in the Lord. As “the helper,” she helps build a home and provide an atmosphere of cooperation, encouragement, and respect. My book, The Helper, equips wives in their godly role. The Helper: The Role of a Biblical Wife Bible Study, is grounded in biblical truth and takes an in-depth look at different marriages in the Bible that provide great examples for us to follow. This seven-week Bible study will guide you through daily reflections and applications, five days a week for seven weeks.
