A Triptych of Christmas Poems

by Simmons, Robert

A Triptych of Christmas Poems combines three chapbooks bound together in one volume. The first chapbook, entitled "The Cape Cod Christmas Train," is a poem which tells the story of a train which carries people home to unite with their families on Christmas Eve. The poem expresses the joys of family reunions at Christmas. Also conveyed are the traditional values that once prevailed on old Cape Cod and the sense of loss and grief that comes with change and the passage of time. The second chapbook, "Truck Stop Christmas," is a poem which describes a Christmas Eve blizzard during which stranded truckers find shelter in Harry's Diner where they spend a warm Christmas Eve together and enjoy Harry's gift of hospitality. The third chapbook, "The Moment of Christmas," is a poem which describes that precious time when all the frantic, pre-Christmas hustle and bustle have ceased and the sounds of chimes and church bells announce the peaceful arrival of Christmas. All three poems are enhanced by the skilled and expressive illustrations of Cynthia Simmons.
