To the Coral Strand

by John Masters

Here is the story of a man's emotional ties to a country for whose dignity and justice he is willing to sacrifice everything. Running parallel with the tale of his struggle for the new India is a deeply romantic and passionate love affair whose bitter end leads to the final disillusion of a crushed man. The struggle with which we are left at the end of the book is the new struggle - that of a woman's attempts to remake a defeated man.
