Euell Gibbons' handbook of edible wild plants
Abstract: An illustrated field guide describes the abundant variety of edible wild plants available in our natural surroundings. The 260 entries cover wild flowering plants and such non-flowering edibles as algae, lichens, and seaweeds. Each entry includes a description of the plant, its range, habitat, seasonal availability, parts to be used, and gathering and pre-cooking preparation. Recipes are suggested for each entry including one with store-bought ingredients added, and another in which the plant is used for survival. Entries are arranged according to botanical families. (nm).
