In an attempt to answer a question, to understand himself and the past, he begins to write. It is said that in the face of death life flashes all too briefly before our eyes, but all too often we are not given the opportunity to bring these flashes to a reckoning. I was given this opportunity with Irma and this book is my reckoning. From the Author After surviving Hurricane Irma, I was compelled to write my memoir and Irma: Life Lessons from the Worst Storm in Atlantic History is the result. My story begins at Irma's peak, at a time when I had given up and was resigned to my fate and to ending my days in the middle of what turned out to be the worst storm in Atlantic History. It then rewinds twenty-one years to 1996 and a day out in Cornwall, UK, which awakened a fascination for sharks and for the ocean - and covers everything inbetween. This book is my memoir, a soul-searching and captivating tale of how nurture, passion, hard work, decisions and fate conspire to shape our lives.
