Phèdre
The play adapts Euripides' Hippolytus and is written by a prominent French dramatist. The story centers on Hippolytus' stepmother, who learns—mistakenly—that her husband, Theseus, has died. Phèdra then confesses a deep affection for her stepson, a revelation that ultimately leads to tragedy for both.
