Overcoming Procrastination
Albert Ellis applies Rational Emotive Behaviour Therapy, the approach he founded, to putting things off. The claim is that procrastination is driven by irrational beliefs, mainly a demand for perfection and a low tolerance for discomfort, and that disputing those beliefs directly is the way out. Written with William Knaus, it is brisk and confrontational in Ellis's characteristic style, with exercises rather than sympathy. An early entry in a field that has since grown large.
