This diary covers the Second World War as seen by a housewife, living mainly in London, who was furiously writing books, letters and articles. She was an active pacifist, much sought after as a speaker and lecturer, and a woman at the centre of London's socialand political life. She corresponded with her children evacuated to the U.S.A., (her daughter is Shirley Williams, the politician), and made it her business to follow all wartime events.
