Those Who Leave and Those Who Stay
Set in 1960s Naples, the novel follows Lila Cerullo after her husband Stefano partners with the Solara brothers, leading her to work in her mother‑in‑law's shop while she resists him. Elena Greco, the narrator, continues high school, loves Nino Sarratore, and the two friends travel to Ischia with Lila's family. The story continues the saga begun in L'amie prodigieuse, depicting Naples and Italy from the 1950s onward.
