I Swear by Apollo
Margaret Ogola's sequel to The River and the Source, following the same Kenyan family into a later generation. The title comes from the Hippocratic oath, and medicine runs through the book as both profession and moral test. Ogola was a paediatrician herself, and the novel is concerned with what the educated young owe their families and their country, set against Kenya's social and political strain. Reads as a companion to the first book rather than a standalone.
