This is the launch volume of a new fantasy trilogy. Animist is the story of young Alex, a recent graduate of the College of Animism, as he embarks on a quest to acquire his Anim: the animal with which he will bond for life; an animal with which he'll share an empathic link that will allow him to detect and resist the use of magic. Forward's is an ambitious, newly-created fantasy world filled with magic and adventure, containing intelligent non-human races, and many kingdoms and empires. Her hero Alex is in the great tradition of the young man growing into his powers, likeable and engaging. This is a rational fantasy in the tradition of L.E. Modesitt's Recluce books, the book to put Eve Forward on the fantasy map.
