The story follows Kin Arad, a senior official of a planet‑building company, who after living twenty‑one decades and undergoing memory surgery reaches the pinnacle of her profession. She learns that two employees have misfiled a fossilized plesiosaur bearing a placard that says “End Nuclear Testing Now,” and later encounters evidence of a flat earth.
