The Lost Country
Billy Edgewater, discharged from the Navy and touched by a rising desperation, hitchhikes home to East Tennessee, where his father is slowly dying. On the road he meets a kid dodging the law, a young woman who has fled her abusive home life, and a one-armed con man. All, in one way and another, have their pasts and futures embroiled with D.L. Harkness, a predator in evey sense. Hounded at each turn by scams, vigilantes, grievous loss and violence, Edgewater navigates the long road home, searching for a place that may be no more than a memory.
