My Secret Sister
Roberta Robinson is 80 years old. As she lays on her death bed in her Martha's Vineyard mansion, it is not the story that everyone knows about the former prominent public figure who, as a black woman broke barriers and ascended to the highest level that is coveted, but it is the story that is untold. Through the medium of a dream, Roberta re-lives key moments throughout her life; her memories of love and loss, tragedy and triumph, blend with her experiences as a black female in America. From the time that Roberta is a young girl, she not only has a loving heart, but she also has a love of country. In spite of tragic circumstances and a society that would make it easy for her to give up and never trust anyone again, it is Roberta's loving heart and love of country that never allows the light in her eyes to die out. Roberta meets El Gore, who besides being white, is Roberta's polar opposite in every other way as well. The two unlikely friends create a loving bond, that is stronger than anything that life or society can do to them. The time comes when Roberta's childhood dreams lay at her feet for her to grab, but they may not be attainable if anyone knew the secrets that she held. There comes a time when Roberta and El must make a difficult decision that may give Roberta her dreams realized, but leave Roberta and El with a piece missing from their hearts forever. Roberta must decide whether or not to say goodbye forever, to her...Secret Sister.
