In the 1960s, the Bible John killer murdered three women in Scotland, taking souvenirs. Three decades later a copycat, Johnny Bible, repeats the crimes. Detective Inspector John Rebus, known for unconventional methods, is pulled from an inquiry to investigate an off‑duty oilman’s death, and his investigation collides with the Johnny Bible murders, drawing media attention and an internal review.
