The Diocese of Rochester in America, 1868-1993
This edition of the late Father Robert McNamara’s acclaimed text — originally published in 1968 and long out of print — extends the story of the Rochester Diocese through its 125th anniversary in 1993. Included are the original 14 chapters and Epilogue, which Bishop James E. Kearney commissioned Father McNamara, longtime diocesan archivist, to prepare for the diocesan centennial in 1968, as well as a rich collection of photographs that help bring personalities and events to life. Added to this new edition is an exploration of the diocese’s fifth quarter-century (1968-1993), a fascinating period of change during which three bishops — Fulton J. Sheen, Joseph L. Hogan and Matthew H. Clark — have occupied the See of Rochester.
