The Art of Always Being Right
Schopenhauer's short catalogue of thirty-eight stratagems for winning an argument regardless of whether you are right, written around 1830 and published after his death. The stratagems are listed plainly: generalise your opponent's claim so it is easier to refute, provoke anger, claim victory on an irrelevant point, and finally, if all else fails, become personal. It is read as satire, as a manual, and as a description of what people actually do.
