The Possessions of Doctor Forrest
Steve Hartford, Grey Lochran and Robert Forrest - respected Scottish doctors - have been close friends since their Edinburgh boyhoods. They now live handsomely in London, but for each one, midlife has brought certain discontents, especially Forrest. A reformed womaniser, he broods over his fading looks and the departure of his beautiful younger girlfriend. He goes missing one summer evening and fails to resurface. Alarmed by what might have befallen their friend, Lochran and Hartford resolve to conduct their own investigation, even though the police can find no evidence of foul play. Soon, however, Lochran and Hartford find themselves bedevilled by bizarre, unnerving events, and the attentions of menacing strangers. Robert Forrest, they come to realise, has remained closer than they could ever have dared imagine...
