Wreck of Mary Deare
Dusk is at hand as a Biscay gale shoves waves and weather into the channel. John Sands, standing watch aboard the Sea Witch, spots a freighter, low in the water but making adequate way. She slips round Ushant and heads into the darkness. Next morning the storm is gone, but not the freighter. There she is, the Mary Deare, abandoned and nearing the Channel Reefs. Sands goes aboard...but what a rescue, what a crazy ship, and what a story!
