Readings in Modern Christology (Blackwell Readings in Modern Theology)

by Bruce Marshall

Product Description Christology has to do with Jesus' identity and significance, with who he is and the difference he makes. Reflection on Jesus' identity and significance does not, of course, begin in modernity but has been central to the notion and study of Christian theology from its earliest beginnings. This is therefore a central topic of study for systematic theology students and Christology: Classic and Contemporary Readings provides the reader with a series of both classic and newly commissioned essays which will prove invaluable for their study of this area. The volume itself is divided into three parts. Firstly, a substantial introductory essay by Bruce Marshall on the central problems of modern Christology serves to introduce and interpret the selection of readings which follow. The second part includes readings selected for their significance in modern Christology as a whole each of which will be preceded by a brief contextualising editorial comment. Finally, the third section will contains a group of mainly newly commissioned essays in Christology by contemporary constructive theologians. About the Author Bruce Marshall is Professor of Theology at St Olaf College, Minnesota. He has written a number of books in systematic theology and has also been an editor of Modern Theology.
