In the wreckage of the Kingdom of Hebrion, two women begin a power struggle. Isolla arrives in Hebrion as a symbol of Hebrion-Astaran alliance, and Jemilla, the comatose King's scheming mistress bears a child. In the weakened state, Isolla has the support of the wizard Golophin.
