A Good Day to Die
Steve Hayes, convicted white collar felon, half black, half white, is searching for himself, and redemption from the seat of a bicycle. Surviving the Rockies, the Plains and all the places in between, his cross-country journey comes to an abrupt halt in northern Michigan when two rednecks leave him bleeding and broken in a ditch. His quest sidetracked for the winter because of a fractured arm, he gets a desk clerk job at a ski/golf/casino resort just outside Eagle Rapids, Michigan. Unwittingly he makes a mortal enemy out of a local deputy sheriff. The deputy is obsessed with Steve's boss, who's husband had died in a bike accident the previous year. Steve also discovers activity at the casino that puts him in danger of being killed by an unseen enemy.
